Shane's Comments: I could talk about this property forever, when you pull up on the dead end road you don't even know what hidden potential is here until you drive back into a huge hidden field surrounded by 1000s of acres of big deep hardwoods. I found out why they call southern IL God's country. As you can see from my map what I would do to this farm to make it produce huge whitetails every year. The 1st thing I would do, is harvest 80-100 acres of mature timber in the locations that I call sanctuaries on the map, these locations would never have human activity unless a wounded animal ran into them. 2nd, I would bail the grass off the fields into large round bails that I would place along my road frontage on both sides of the road creating a man made fence row. 3rd, I would hire a farmer in the area to pay me to grow crops on around 80-90 acres of open tillable ground to produce more income other than the CRP and to create tons of food for the wildlife, especially the deer. 4th thing I would do, is create 5-6 food plots strategically placed for every possible wind direction and close to all three of my sanctuaries. 5th thing I would do, is harvest only 4 year old bucks and older off this farm for many years to come. This is one of the nicest farms I have ever stepped foot on, it does need some work, but that's the fun of owning land. It has everything to grow and hold huge southern Illinois whitetails.
